Minimally Invasive Sinus Grafting

The conventional “lateral window” or “caldwell luc” sinus lift requires the elevation of a large gum flap in order to expose the bone on the side of the upper jaw. A window is then made and pushed inward to allow the addition of bone to the top half of the implant.

In contrast, with minimally invasive sinus grafting, swelling, bruising or pain is not anticipated since there are no sutures or large flaps involved. Additionally, a dental implant can be placed at the same visit, reducing healing time and allowing for faster treatment.
See two cases below demonstrating the technique.

sg-case1
Internal sinus augmentation performed raising the Schneiderian membrane. Note that the graft tissue is well encapsulated.

sg-case2
This minimally invasive sinus lift case was completed using a piezoelectric / piezosurgical device, which helps minimize tissue trauma and maximize speed of healing. The implant was placed the same day.
