Yes, I bike to work!

Spring is in the air – it’s time to ride!

Two years ago, I made a strategic decision: I would stop driving to work. As a faculty member at Long Island College Hospital (turned to Lutheran, now NYU SUNY Downstate) , I had access to the lovely parking garage on Hicks street, off Atlantic avenue. But I realized that a significant stressful event occurred on a daily basis – in fact, twice a day (!) … the daily commute and drive.

I’ve always enjoyed cycling, and decided that if the weather was favorable, I would make the 30 minute bike ride from Midwood, by Ocean Parkway, to Brooklyn heights.

I can say without a doubt that – aside from the health benefits of 1 hour of exercise each day – biking is a fantastic stress reliever!

So dust off that 10 speed Schwinn you have in the garage, and take it to work one day. You won’t regret it!
